Rules and Regulations

EVENT

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The event is both competitive and for cycling tourists, and is fully recognized by the A.C.S.I.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=”slines fnt24″]

PARTICIPATION

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

Cyclists and cycling tourists who want to participate must be current card carrying members in good standing of U.I.S.P., F.C.I. or CONI recognized Sporting Associations. The race is also open to foreign cycling amateurs who can show proof of current membership in an organization recognized by the U.C.I.  The organizing committee at any time shall be able to decide whether or not to accept a registration, or whether to exclude someone signed up for the event, should that person present a risk of damaging the image of the race. Registrations will not be accepted from cyclists who have been penalized by any sports authority or on criminal grounds for a period longer than 6 months, or if they have been convicted of or are being investigated for doping charges.

LOGISTICAL HEADQUARTERS

Assembly, registrations, card verifications, race package distribution and the awards ceremony will all take place at the Spazio Savioli at Piazza della Costituzione in Pomarance; showers will be available at the security supervised parking lot at the Pomarance Community Stadium and at new facilities at the Don Bosco Nuova Traversa sports field. Showers for women will be reserved at the “Campini”  Nuova Traversa. The final lunch featuring boar meat will be held at the Chalet pizzeria Arzillaia above the Spazio Savioli.

PRE-REGISTRATION AND REGISTRATION:

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Registrations must arrive no later than 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 9th, for a cost of €30. After that date, registrations will be accepted at a cost of €40 until Friday, April 10th, after which they can be completed only at the administrative office for the race at Spazio Savioli in Pomarance for €40. The participation fees include 5 refreshments along the route, mechanical assistance, shower services, the race package and a free pasta party.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=”slines fnt24″]

ASSISTANCE DURING THE RACE

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]As of 01/01/2015 any type of assistance from vehicles not authorized by the organization and race director are prohibited. The only vehicles authorized to follow the race will be those put in place by the organization. Therefore any type of assistance in the race from organized teams or private persons will be prohibited.

Should it be necessary, participants must rely on the assistance provided by the organization or see to repairs themselves. No authorization will be given for any type of outside assistance to individual riders. Any type of repairs to the bicycle must be done independently by the race participant, who should be sure to bring along a repair kit. Under no circumstances will motorcycles be allowed to follow riders, whether they’re on a team or riding single.

With the aid of race judges, the event organizers will be charged with verifying full compliance with these rules.

Any participant found to be using outside assistance will be disqualified from the race.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=”slines fnt24″]

OFFICIAL TIMING

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Riding time will be measured with a MySDAM Official Timers, featuring technology based on the use of chips.
Each participant must be equipped with a valid personal chip or rent a day chip.
Information and conditions for the use of chips are published on the MySDAM website at:  www.mysdam.it/info-chip.do
Please note: Failure to use the chip or its incorrect use will result in exclusion from the rankings and the omission of the official race time.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=”slines fnt24″]

CHECKS AND MAXIMUM TIME LIMITS

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Checks of average travel time will be given by electronic readings.
For the long route a maximum time will be established, within which the performance will be considered valid; such time could be rounded out compared to the one established by the minimum time.

Those riders who end up pedalling beyond the average maximum time WILL HAVE TO TAKE A DETOUR ALONG THE SHORT ROUTE.

The closing time for the “gate” on the long route will be displayed at the administrative office for the race or indicated on the technical envelope.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=”slines fnt24″]

ROUTE

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Cycling tourist: 70 km – Medium: 82 km – Long: 130 km.
Cycling tourists will be able to participate in the event either with a “French style start”, one hour before the official start (from 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.), or lining up in the last grid.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=”slines fnt24″]

DISTRIBUTION

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]At Spazio Savioli on Saturday, April 11th, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. On Sunday, April 12th, from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
Race numbers will be given only after verification of a valid membership card and the signing of a specific form.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=”slines fnt24″]

START

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The race will start from Corso Piazza S. Anna in Pomarance at 9:30 a.m.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=”slines fnt24″]

RANKINGS

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]There will be rankings for final arrival that will determine the winner of the Granfondo, as well as individual rankings for categories prescribed in the rules and regulations for the Giro del Granducato. The first 10 teams or associations will also be awarded. There will be special rankings as well.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=”slines fnt24″]

PRIZES

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The awards ceremony will take place after the arrival of the last competitor on the long route.  Prizes will go to the first three men on the long and short routes, the first three women on the long and short routes, and the first three special category rankers for the long and short routes. The first ten teams or associations will also be awarded prizes.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=”slines fnt24″]

– GGT 5 45-49 years old (born from 1966 up to and including 1970)
– GGT 6 50-54 years old (born from 1961 up to and including 1965)
– GGT 8 55-59 years old (born from 1956 up to and including 1960)
– GGT 9 60-64 years old (born from 1951 up to and including 1955)
– GGT 10 65-69 years old (born from 1946 up to and including 1950)
– Women 1 up to 39 years old (born after and including 1975)

– Honour Grid
– Merit Grid
– First Grid for members

Note
– Honour grid: will include all the “guests of honour” invited by the organization;
– Merit grid: in the first event, the first five top ranked riders in each category for the classifications of the Giro, the women’s category, special  needs participants and anyone else the organization sees fit to include;
– First grid for members: members registered for the GGT before 31/12/2014;

GENERAL TERMS

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The organizing committee declines any and all civil or penal responsibility for eventual accidents, injuries and/or damages to participants, objects or third parties, before during and after the race, regardless of the security measures taken. The event will take place in any type of weather. Riders must wear a regulation hard helmet. Road rules must be respected at all times. The competition is R.C.T. insured by A.C.S.I. For any item not specified in the present regulations, national A.C.S.I. regulations will apply.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
